About The Position

As a Manufacturing Engineer in the Rolls-Royce Development Center, you will have an opportunity to provide mill-turn process/method development of Turbines/Rotatives Components on Hermle Machine Platform. You will collaborate with team members to define, develop, and deliver mill-turn process/method through Teamcenter NX CAD/CAM including fixture/tool definition, part cut strategy with cutter path verification, and continuous improvement of rules and tools that govern the current solution methodology. You will have opportunity to work with our Measurement Team and decipher CMM results to guide process development decisions. Be part of the team that is working on New Product Introduction (NPI), Insourcing from external supply chain, and improving processes from current legacy method within the production shop.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Science, Technology or Engineering with 4+ years of engineering experience, OR Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology or Engineering with 2+ years of engineering experience, OR Master's degree in Science, Technology or Engineering, OR PhD in Science, Technology or Engineering, OR In lieu of a degree 6+ years of engineering experience
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Mill/Turn CAD/CAM Siemens Control CNC Programming experience
  • Milling and/or Turning process and tooling experience
  • Experience working with applying CMM results to guide process changes
  • CAD/CAM and/or NX Teamcenter experience
  • Process Design, Fixturing Concepts, and Tolerance Stack experience

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that manufacturing processes are in full compliance to Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm program.
  • Ensure that manufacturing processes are capable of achieving and sustaining the design definition, and that processes are followed so that our products and those of our suppliers conform to their specification. Rigorously raise, investigate and resolve safety related issues.
  • Drive a culture of zero defects within the organization. Works with all functions to reduce risk and drive product Right First Time. Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies and standards including RRMS, SABRe and Export Control and Intellectual Property requirements.
  • Ensure application of manufacturing process controls within their area of accountability, with authorization subject to appropriate delegation. Act as MEA or PCA signatory, where applicable.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for new or improved manufacturing processes, digital systems and technologies to meet current or future requirements.
  • Plan and manage activities including schedule, resources and costs, gaining buy-off and communicating current status to relevant stakeholders. Ensure issues and risks are resolved to meet project timescales.
  • Develop, implement, validate, maintain and continuously improve manufacturing processes, digital systems and/or methods of manufacture which are capable of meeting and continue to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time.
  • Capture, analyze and use data to demonstrate and improve the current and future capability of manufacturing processes.
  • Working with the Manufacturing Engineering Commodity Leaders and Manufacturing Process Owners, drive manufacturing processes towards identified consistent best practice.
  • Work with interfacing teams and local experts to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes and digital systems are understood and accounted for as required. Capture and utilize lessons learnt. Identify, document and share best practice, including by participation in relevant Communities of Practice.
  • Responsible for self-development to meet the required competencies for the role. Continuously seek to expand knowledge and experience to increase effectiveness in undertaking existing and new activities. Provides coaching and technical support to others within their area of competence.
