Manufacturing Engineer- 2nd Shift
About The Position
This position is 2nd shift, with hours from 3 PM to 11 PM. The role is categorized as onsite, requiring the successful candidate to report to the Toledo, Ohio plant on a full-time basis. Sponsorship is not provided for this role. The work is technical in nature, involving independent judgment, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and data analysis for cost reductions and tool life improvements. The candidate must be able to work autonomously with occasional guidance, collaborate across functions, train others, and assign work to a small group. Key responsibilities include being the tooling and gaging point of contact, troubleshooting equipment, and implementing permanent corrective solutions. The role may involve training others and assigning work to a small group of employees.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated high level of analytical ability including experience with structured technical problem; can include RedX or Design for Six Sigma methods.
- Work in a Team Environment to understand Product, Processes, and Failure Modes
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and difficult projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
- Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others
- Proven ability in managing large and complex projects
- Experience in troubleshooting production equipment
Nice To Haves
- Experience with gear and aluminum machining, assembly processes, and testing and verification systems
Responsibilities
- Supports continuous improvement projects
- Approval of process documentation
- Diagnose, analyze, and document emergent tooling issues
- Creation of Engineering sufficiency plans as required
- Ensure supply base adheres to GM standards and quality and manufacturing processes are enabled
- Design, analyze and implement product or machinery designs for best method for manufacturing processes
- Propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area
- Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
- Regular contact with others outside the work group including leading cross-functional teams
- Provide direction to small group of technical employees
- Responsible to evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment
