About The Position

Sacoma Specialty Products is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer with experience in metal fabrication and welding environments. This position works directly on the manufacturing floor to improve fabrication processes, troubleshoot equipment and process issues, support tooling and mechanical improvements, and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost. Requirements

Mechanical Engineering Technology degree or similar degree preferred. Equivalent work experience demonstrating mechanical knowledge, theory, and application will be considered.
Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Creo preferred).
Minimum of 1-3 years of technical experience in a fabrication environment.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on heavy industrial manufacturing equipment.
Industrial experience working with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of PLC programming, industrial sensors, and servo motors is a plus.

Responsibilities

Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs while applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
Develop manufacturing processes by researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
Assist production with programming and adjusting robotic MIG welders and resistance welders.
Ensure product and process quality by designing testing methods, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.
Calculate production, labor, and material costs while reviewing production schedules and estimating future requirements.
Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing manufacturing data and trends.
Investigate current manufacturing technologies and implement mechanical improvements to create more repeatable, stable, and reliable manufacturing processes.
Implement mechanical improvements to production equipment while maintaining equipment, process, and part specifications.
Perform hands-on improvements to manufacturing equipment approximately 70% of the time.
Research and cost improvement opportunities approximately 25% of the time.
Perform clerical responsibilities, including purchase orders and project timelines, approximately 5% of the time.
