About The Position

Pall Corporation, a Danaher company, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to determine the optimal manufacturing methods and processes for producing company products. This role involves analyzing engineering design documents, creating conceptual sketches, and initiating the design and building of required tooling. The Manufacturing Engineer will support manufacturing operations by improving safety, ergonomics, on-time delivery, productivity, and increasing yields. This position is responsible for identifying and developing all production, assembly, and test processes and procedures, ensuring products are manufactured in the safest and most economical manner while adhering to quality characteristics and product design integrity. The role is part of the Engineering Department and will be located in Cortland, NY. The Manufacturing Engineer will be assigned to specific product lines and must ensure all related routing, fixtures, tooling, procedures, and processes are appropriate and safely in place for manufacturing. Key focuses include reducing process variation, waste reduction, standard work creation, preventative maintenance, addressing process and quality upsets, and optimizing cell design. The role involves implementing Lean Manufacturing and Statistical Process Control concepts and initiatives, and participating in the New Product Introduction Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with up to 1 year of professional experience (Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering)
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel, Word, Power Point.

Nice To Haves

  • Minitab is a plus.
  • Experience identifying and implementing improvements to processes, tools, and tooling.
  • Experience with Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing a plus.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Determine optimal manufacturing methods and processes for producing company products.
  • Analyze engineering design documents to establish manufacturing methods and processes.
  • Create conceptual sketches and initiate the design and building of required tooling.
  • Support manufacturing operations in the production of filtration products by improving Safety, Ergonomics, On Time Delivery (OTD), Productivity and increasing yields.
  • Identify and develop all production, assembly & test processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure products are produced in the most safe and economical proficient manner.
  • Adhere to ultimate quality characteristics and product design integrity.
  • Ensure all related routing, fixtures, tooling, procedures, processes, etc. are appropriate and safely in place for manufacturing.
  • Focus on reduction in process variation, waste reduction, standard work creation, preventative maintenance, process and quality upsets and optimized cell design.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing and Statistical Process Control concepts and initiatives.
  • Participate in the New Product Introduction Team.
  • Action plan-problem solving, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Partner with direct manufacturing operations in terms of safety, quality, productivity, and timely delivery to external customers.
