About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer role involves developing safety procedures, troubleshooting chemical manufacturing processes, and evaluating equipment and processes for optimization and regulatory compliance. This position will conduct research for new and improved processes, determine efficient operational arrangements, and monitor process performance. The engineer will also design measurement and control systems, communicate effectively with team members, and work with production to start up, enhance, and improve processes, including defining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering plus 5 years of related experience OR Associate's Degree in Chemical Engineering plus 10 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Active Learning: Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Technology Design: Generating or adapting equipment and technology to serve production needs.
  • Writing: Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop safety procedures for equipment operation and proximity to chemical reactions.
  • Troubleshoot problems with chemical manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate chemical equipment and processes to optimize performance and ensure safety and environmental compliance.
  • Conduct research to develop new and improved chemical manufacturing processes.
  • Determine the most effective arrangement of operations such as mixing, crushing, heat transfer, distillation, and drying.
  • Perform tests and monitor process performance throughout production stages to control variables like temperature, density, specific gravity, and pressure.
  • Design and plan the layout of equipment.
  • Design measurement and control systems for chemical plants based on collected data.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisors, peers, or subordinates, in written form or in person.
  • Perform tasks using specific operating procedures and following department-specific quality control processes and procedures.
  • Work with production to start up, enhance, and improve all processes related to production.
  • Assist with defining SOPs.
  • Treat people with dignity and respect.
