About The Position

Banner Engineering is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations group. This role offers a collaborative environment with a good amount of autonomy, contributing to Banner's ongoing success and continuing growth. The primary focus will be on improving manufacturing processes to reduce waste and enhance product quality. This position reports to the Sr Manager of Quality & Engineering and is classified as Exempt under the FLSA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or related field)
  • 0 to 5 years of engineering experience; new grads are encouraged to apply
  • Strong applied statistical skills to analyze manufacturing data, identify process variation, and drive continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality and continuous improvement methodologies including experience with 8D and Root Cause Analysis
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proven problem-solving skills for diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, die casting, machining, and stamping
  • Familiarity with one or more of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, data-driven analysis and decision-making

Responsibilities

  • Lead Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) sessions and proactively reduce and eliminate the causes of defects
  • Initiate quality alerts, stock checks, stop work orders, line support, engineering, and corrective action requests.
  • Provide quality-based customer support for Production and the Business units.
  • Work closely with operators and technicians on the factory floor to understand process challenges and implement practical, sustainable improvements
  • Critically analyze new product concepts and provide constructive feedback for assembly requirements and constraints
  • Manage improvement projects related to issues found in product returns
  • Analyze inspection data for nonconforming products from external suppliers to determine disposition.
  • Collaborate with NPD and Plant Engineering at each of our facilities to reduce waste, operational errors, and improve overall product quality.
