About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer position will assist in plant operations contributing towards improving manufacturing efficiencies by utilizing continuous improvement techniques to contribute to a work environment where fairness, equality and non-discriminatory practices are the standard.

Requirements

  • BS Degree (Engineering; Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial)
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or Associates Degree
  • Ability to Identify Problems
  • Interested and capable in solving problems and driven to execute
  • Very strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated effective team player
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Strong proficiency in Computer Aided Drafting
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills, including new technologies and systems
  • Shall report all injuries/illnesses to their supervisor that occur at work, the day of the incident
  • Shall report any unsafe conditions that are identified in their respective work area to their supervisor
  • Shall comply with all CAF USA safety policies, procedures, and requirements that are communicated to them, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures
  • Shall wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is communicated and supplied to them
  • Shall keep their respective work area clean and orderly at all times
  • Shall attend all CAF USA required training as soon as possible before the start of their assigned work
  • Shall NOT operate any CAF USA equipment (forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts) until certified to do so

Responsibilities

  • Managing and leading continuous improvement projects.
  • Applying Lean Manufacturing tools and methodology in the implementation of manufacturing excellence initiatives.
  • Working with manufacturing personnel to assist in the understanding and adoption of new principles and techniques.
  • Driving the standardization of processes and the implementation of metrics and best practices.
  • Assisting in setting annual operational targets and helping drive improvements to achieve those targets.
  • Evaluating designs and developing manufacturing processes, methods, tooling and fixturing.
  • Evaluating manufacturing workspace in order to design production layouts and workflow to utilize the available space effectively and efficiently.
  • Working with manufacturing personnel and QA to determine the root cause of manufacturing issues.
  • Communicating design issues identified in the manufacturing process to the Design Engineering department.
  • Providing detailed solution proposals for manufacturing issues.
  • Developing work instructions to aid manufacturing personnel in the implementation of the design.
  • Estimating the number of production personnel for a project, calculating the time involved and related costs for doing the project, clearly providing direction, training to the production personnel about the work flow, creating a layout of the equipment in order to get higher level of production efficiency.
  • Participating in PDCA improvement efforts.
  • Monitoring and supporting the implementation of design modifications in the build process.
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
