Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems Sector has an opening for a Principal Manufacturing Engineering to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in El Segundo, CA. This position is responsible for supply base technical management related to acquiring military hardware requirements. This position requires a motivated self-starter able to work independently and as a team player who can multi-task and communicate effectively with varying levels of program.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of at least one of the following commodities: Machined parts, Machined Structures, Composites, Sheet Metal, Tooling
  • Work effectively with engineering, quality, and GSC organizations to help resolve technical supplier challenges
  • Support successful execution with Global Supply Chain and Supplier Quality organizations through the source selection and acquisition cycles.
  • Bachelor’s Degree is Science and 5 years of relevant engineering experience in procurement support, tooling evaluation, and technical liaison roles ; or Masters Degree and 3 years of relevant engineering experience in procurement support, tooling evaluation, and technical liaison roles
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting engineering drawings and CAD models for fabrication of parts.
  • Model based experience with Siemens NX and/or CATIA and PLM environments.
  • Experience using SAP, Windows software packages, and databases to fetch data.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S Government Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior operational manufacturing experience for fabrication and/or assembly.
  • Understanding of post-production processing requirement and familiarity with NADCAP (i.e., Chemical, Heat Treat, paint …)
  • ASME Y14.5 GD&T certification
  • In-depth experienced navigating transactions in SAP to extract data.
  • Knowledge of FAR & DFAR requirements
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements
  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance and prior related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide sourcing recommendation to general procurement and major subcontract internal customers utilizing strategic sourcing tools.
  • Identifying and on-boarding new sources of supply for assigned commodities.
  • Conducting capability assessments, performing supplier audits and performance monitoring of suppliers for assigned commodities.
  • Support of mechanical commodities in strategic sourcing group.
  • Travel required up to 25%.
