About The Position

Anduril’s Manufacturing team is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the Anduril Composites branch in North Carolina. The team rapidly iterates and builds composite parts and assemblies for multiple Anduril business lines. The role spans the manufacturing value chain, including MBOM management, work-instruction creation, design for manufacturability, work-cell optimization, tool design and selection, process creation and optimization, vendor sourcing and interaction, quality planning, and documentation for composite and metallic structures. The successful candidate will bring novel designs toward manufacturable products by collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including Design, Supply Chain, and Quality. The role requires understanding composite failure modes considered during initial design and how they inform manufacturing methods used for the finished product. The engineer will work hands-on with technicians and engineers to build composite components and tooling, develop and document processes, address production problems, and support products as they progress from prototype or LRIP to FRP.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in a relevant field, preferably focused on one or more composite manufacturing methods.
  • Genuine interest in manufacturing and a desire to learn.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software; NX is preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office and/or project management software.
  • Demonstrated in-kind or direct team leadership skills, supported by examples.
  • U.S. Person status is required because the position needs access to export-controlled data.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering- or technology-related field.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, automotive, and/or energetics facilities.
  • Experience working in an AS9100/NADCAP-accredited manufacturing facility.
  • Proficiency in TeamCenter for digital manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with multiple composite manufacturing processes, including filament winding, autoclave processing, VARTM, prepregs, and hydraulic press processing.
  • Understanding of CNC machining operations and limitations, including 5-axis routers, lathes, and mills.

Responsibilities

  • Build novel designs, from Group 1 UAVs to XL-UAVs, with technicians and engineers, considering appropriate composite design and manufacturing methods.
  • Collaborate with design engineering teams during the design phase to influence decisions that improve manufacturability before initial design release.
  • Build composite components and tooling hands-on with technicians and engineers in coordination with design engineering teams.
  • Create manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, MBOMs, quality plans, inspection requirements, and non-conformance documentation.
  • Complete work instructions, quality plans, and inspections alongside technicians and inspectors.
  • Bridge engineering technical data packages and technicians to ensure composite hardware and tooling are manufactured as designed and analyzed.
  • Resolve manufacturing problems in a schedule-driven environment while meeting detailed specifications and quality requirements and delivering on schedule.
  • Develop manufacturing processes that reduce risk as products transition from prototype/LRIP into FRP.
  • Work with Program Managers to inform critical decision points and support on-time delivery.
  • Drive root-cause analyses (RCCAs) with the Quality team to eliminate production blockers and recurring issues.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers as part of total compensation.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, described as a comprehensive and competitive package available at little to no cost to employees.
