This position is for a Manufacturing Engineer at Collins Aerospace, focusing on the manufacture of electrical/mechanical pressure sensing devices. The role requires applying engineering knowledge to efficiently solve complex manufacturing problems and making data-oriented technical conclusions. The Manufacturing Engineer will interface with other manufacturing engineers, production leaders, maintenance, purchasing, quality, production operators, design engineers, and program management. This is an onsite role, emphasizing direct involvement in the manufacturing process. Collins Aerospace's Avionics division provides advanced cockpit displays, vision systems, and digital solutions for global government, commercial, and business aviation customers, ensuring safety and seamless communication.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain production documentation on each process, including manufacturing documents and production process routings.
  • Attain MRB signature authority (Material Dispositioning)
  • Learn the operation and programming of all assigned equipment.
  • Become proficient identifying common defects and issues for assigned processes and learn the proper mitigations for those defects and issues.
  • Learn to use the appropriate metrology tools required by assigned processes.
  • Learn and accept responsibility for process SPC.
  • Become proficient on manufacturing software such as SAP and Creo.
  • Properly document and report your work.
  • Develop and implement cost savings projects, new technology, materials, new products and processes.
  • Reduce scrap, rework and repair.
  • Provide recommendations on process efficiency, safety, production flow and sequencing of operations.
  • Use data analytics/SPC for productivity, First Pass Yield and OEE targets and improvements.
  • Drive problem solving initiatives & challenge status QUO (C/A Investigations, OEE, FPY, Customer escapes).
  • Participates and contributes on Process Flow, PFMEA and Control Plans.
  • Develops, designs and plans for assembly and materials handling.
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to conform to standard factory and production procedures.
  • Makes changes in assembly processes, equipment procedures, and design specifications to solve equipment and manufacturing problems.
  • Plans sequence of operations and specification procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Provides guidance for engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
