About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer, who is a technical expert directly responsible for the development, construction, and refinement of product prototypes and initial production builds. This role requires significant hands-on presence on the factory floor to assemble parts, test equipment, and troubleshoot build issues in real time. The engineer acts as the primary liaison between design, production, and quality teams, ensuring that products are not only manufacturable but are built to the highest standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or a related engineering field is required with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience developing and building complex mechanical or electromechanical products; or 3 years with a Master’s degree.
  • Proficient in methodologies for continuous improvement and waste reduction, specifically lean manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and building assembly jigs, fixtures, and production tooling.
  • Proficient in CAD software like SolidWorks or AutoCAD to analyze and develop models.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering prints, electrical schematics, and other technical documentation.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electromechanical issues on the production floor.
  • For complex products, hands-on experience integrating mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to analyze production data, performance metrics, and trends to recommend improvements.
  • A proactive and innovative approach to solving technical challenges on the spot. Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and find creative solutions.
  • Clearly and effectively conveying complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A team-first attitude and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • A sharp eye for detail to ensure quality and precision during the build process.
  • Juggling multiple projects and managing resources, time, and budgets effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with specific types of builds, such as aerospace hardware, automotive systems, or precision assemblies, should be highlighted.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate directly in the assembly of prototypes and low-volume production products, performing hands-on work with tools and machinery.
  • Design and create manufacturing aids, jigs, and fixtures to support the assembly and build process.
  • Provide direct, daily technical support to technicians and assembly line personnel, troubleshooting build problems and implement immediate corrective actions.
  • Work closely with the design engineering team to ensure components are easily and efficiently assembled. Provide hands-on feedback on product design and suggest improvements based on physical build experience.
  • Create and maintain detailed, easy-to-follow build instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and work instructions for production staff based on practical experience.
  • Investigate build failures and quality issues by hands-on inspection and testing. Use methodologies such as 5 Whys to determine and address the root cause of production problems.
  • Assist in the installation, testing, and maintenance of new or modified manufacturing equipment, ensuring it meets build requirements.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors to confirm part quality, assess components, and troubleshoot any issues related to materials or parts.
