The Manufacturing Engineer will be in support of optical instrumentation build and troubleshooting for 4D Technology. Instruments include interferometers, using various wavelengths and operation modes, as well as new and novel optical instruments used for surface characterization and metrology.

Requirements

  • BS degree in optical science or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in optical mechanical engineering
  • Experience in handling precision optical components
  • Self-directed and reliable

Responsibilities

  • Develop the process control strategy for optical manufacturing facility. Controls include; parts, tools, test equipment, documentation, environment, operator and process capability.
  • Ensure that every system manufactured exceeds product specifications.
  • Assist with continuous improvement projects to optimize quality, cost, delivery and safety.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing process documentation for each product family, including assembly, alignment, calibration and test.
  • Create process documentation for specials and custom products
  • Design and/or specification of; tools, fixtures, inspection, measuring and test equipment.
  • Develop and optimize assembly, alignment and test methods.
  • Create in-process quality tools for defect prevention.
  • Provide training and certification of operators.
  • Troubleshoot issues to identify root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Escalate issues to other departments as required.
  • Support the implementation of Engineering Changes
  • Support the transition of new products into manufacturing.
  • Must be able to travel internationally to customer sites at least 20% of the time, with additional travel as business needs require.
