About The Position

We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineer – Senior to join our team specializing in manufacturing for our Cummins’ business in Columbus, IN. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: Lead end-to-end manufacturing projects, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and business objectives. Drive process optimization initiatives that increase throughput, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency. Implement advanced manufacturing solutions through data-driven analysis, simulation tools, and continuous improvement methodologies. Influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver on capital projects and process enhancements. Develop standardized manufacturing procedures that ensure consistency, reliability, and operational excellence. Integrate product design and engineering drawings to create efficient, scalable production processes. Champion workplace safety and ergonomic design practices to build a proactive, injury-free culture. Mentor team members and stakeholders in problem-solving techniques and continuous improvement practices.

Requirements

  • College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • Strong expertise in manufacturing engineering principles, with the ability to lead process improvements and engineering initiatives
  • Proven capability to apply lean manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, and GD&T to solve complex operational challenges
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across diverse teams, influencing decisions and driving alignment
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills using structured, data-driven approaches
  • Experience balancing safety, quality, delivery, and cost considerations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • 3-5 years in manufacturing engineering, or relevant field, with demonstrated success in process improvement, capital project involvement, and leading engineering initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and GD&T

Nice To Haves

  • Utilize 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks to design, model, and optimize manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Apply experience with capital equipment procurement and CapEx project management to support strategic investments
  • Leverage digital manufacturing tools and simulation technologies to validate process designs prior to implementation
  • Contribute to VPI (Value Package Introduction) launch activities, ensuring seamless integration into production
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to execute project deliverables and strengthen stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrate adaptability, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset in leading change initiatives
  • Apply experience with automation technologies, including familiarity with Fanuc HandlingTool or ArcTool, to enhance production capabilities
  • Support workstation, tooling, and fixture design to ensure efficiency, repeatability, and ergonomic excellence
  • Experience with equipment procurement
  • Experience with managing Capex projects
