About The Position

We are looking for a talented Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing team in Henderson, CO. This role leads the planning, designing, purchasing, and implementation of changes to manufacturing equipment and systems while leading and co-leading teams. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will drive safe, reliable processes by leading end-to-end project work to design and implement manufacturing processes that meet safety, quality, and production goals. They will improve equipment performance by applying advanced manufacturing principles to enhance equipment capability, stability, and efficiency. This role advances continuous improvement by elevating operational performance using CI tools and rigorously applying Cummins standards. They will standardize best practices by leading the creation and refinement of manufacturing standards, working methods, and process documentation. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will influence key stakeholders by communicating with and influencing external partners, business leaders, and cross-functional teams to align decisions and outcomes. They will leverage cross-functional resources by collaborating with internal and external experts to execute complex project assignments and deliver strong results. Finally, they will apply advanced manufacturing expertise by bringing deep knowledge of manufacturing principles to guide decisions, solve problems, and strengthen Cummins’ operational capability, while also coaching and building relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment, adoption, and sustained process excellence.

Requirements

  • College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field, with 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading manufacturing, industrialization, or capital projects in a production environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment installation and commissioning, process development, capacity analysis, and production readiness activities.
  • Experience applying engineering problem-solving and risk management tools such as Root Cause Analysis, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automation, robotics, advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent) and experience managing project budgets, schedules, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of manufacturing and capital projects from concept through implementation, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes, equipment, and production systems to improve operational performance and manufacturing readiness.
  • Serve as the technical lead for cross-functional project teams, driving risk mitigation, issue resolution, equipment commissioning, and successful project delivery.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to align engineering, operations, HSE, and suppliers around shared manufacturing objectives.
  • Deliver concise, audience-specific communication that drives clarity, alignment, and safe execution across all stakeholders.
  • Champion proactive safety behaviors, identify risks early, and reinforce an interdependent safety culture.
  • Integrate product and equipment drawings to design processes that meet specifications and ensure manufacturability.
  • Choose equipment that meets Cummins standards, supports production goals, and aligns with long-term capability needs.
  • Use digital tools to simulate processes, validate decisions, and drive continuous improvement before implementation.
  • Identify waste, reduce variation, and apply CI methodologies to improve cost, quality, and throughput.
  • Apply systematic root-cause analysis to implement robust corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
