About The Position

American Chillers designs and manufactures industrial process chillers and cooling systems for a variety of applications including pool & spa, industrial processes, breweries, medical systems, battery energy storage, and data centers. This role is for a Manufacturing Engineer (Product Support) who will act as the technical backbone for chillers after they leave the manufacturing floor. The position involves supporting customers and field technicians with start-up, troubleshooting, and warranty issues. The role also includes owning replacement-parts sales, producing documentation (O&M manuals, electrical schematics, drawings), and supporting the manufacturing process within the Odoo ERP system by managing BOMs, routings, work centers, and work instructions. This is a broad, hands-on role suitable for an early-career engineer with a strong engineering foundation, computer skills, and a drive to learn the product. Mentorship will be provided by the engineering and technical team.

Requirements

An engineering foundation: a degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or a related technical field), or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
Strong computer and software skills: comfortable in CAD, spreadsheets, and business software, and quick to learn an ERP system.
Mechanical and electrical literacy: ability to read assembly drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics, and understanding of how a machine's electrical and mechanical sides fit together (or a strong drive to learn).
Customer-facing confidence: willingness to communicate with technicians, provide technical support, and remain calm and clear.
Drive and ownership: ability to proactively manage a broad role and seek growth opportunities.
Must be able to work on-site in the Columbia, SC area.

Nice To Haves

Internship, co-op, or early work experience in manufacturing, HVAC/R, or industrial equipment.
HVAC/R or refrigeration exposure, including refrigeration circuits, compressors, condensers, evaporators, brazing, charging, and controls.
Experience with an ERP/MRP system (Odoo, SAP, Epicor, NetSuite, Fishbowl, Infor, or similar), particularly with BOMs and routings.
Familiarity with CAD (SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, Inventor) and/or electrical schematic tools.
Experience with technical documentation, customer support, or parts/aftermarket sales.

Responsibilities

Support customers and field technicians through start-up, troubleshooting, and warranty questions.
Own replacement- and spare-parts sales.
Produce documentation that ships with every unit, including O&M manuals, electrical schematics, and drawings.
Support the manufacturing process in Odoo ERP, including managing BOMs, routings, work centers, and work instructions.
Work with production to ensure the build process is clean and well-documented.
