About The Position

American Chillers designs and manufactures industrial process chillers and cooling systems for a growing range of demanding applications including pool & spa, industrial processes, breweries, medical systems (MRI/LINAC), battery energy storage (BESS), and data centers. This is a broad, hands-on role where the Manufacturing Engineer (Product Support) will serve as the technical backbone for chillers after they leave the manufacturing floor. This involves supporting customers and field technicians with start-up, troubleshooting, and warranty issues, owning replacement and spare parts sales, producing essential documentation (O&M manuals, electrical schematics, drawings), and supporting the manufacturing process within the Odoo ERP system (BOMs, routings, work centers, work instructions). The role requires close collaboration with production to ensure a clean and well-documented build process. This position is ideal for an early-career engineer with a strong engineering foundation, excellent computer and technical skills, and a desire to deeply learn the product, with mentorship provided by the engineering and technical team.

Requirements

• An engineering foundation: a degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or a related technical field), or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
• Strong computer and software skills: comfortable in CAD, spreadsheets, and business software, and quick to learn an ERP system.
• Mechanical and electrical literacy: ability to read assembly drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics, and an understanding of how a machine's electrical and mechanical systems integrate.
• Customer-facing confidence: willingness to communicate effectively with technicians and customers.
• Drive and ownership: a proactive approach to a broad role with a desire to grow.
• Must be able to work on-site in the Columbia, SC area.

Nice To Haves

• Internship, co-op, or early work experience in manufacturing, HVAC/R, or industrial equipment.
• HVAC/R or refrigeration exposure, including refrigeration circuits, compressors, condensers, evaporators, brazing, charging, and controls.
• Experience with an ERP/MRP system (Odoo, SAP, Epicor, NetSuite, Fishbowl, Infor, or similar), particularly with BOMs and routings.
• Familiarity with CAD (SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, Inventor) and/or electrical schematic tools.
• Experience with technical documentation, customer support, or parts/aftermarket sales.

Responsibilities

• Support customers and field technicians through start-up, troubleshooting, and warranty questions.
• Own replacement- and spare-parts sales.
• Produce documentation that ships with every unit, including O&M manuals, electrical schematics, and drawings.
• Support the manufacturing process in Odoo ERP, including BOMs, routings, work centers, and work instructions.
• Work with production to keep the build process clean and well-documented.
