About The Position

It’s an exciting time to be at International as we work to accelerate the impact of sustainable mobility throughout North America and, with our TRATON GROUP colleagues, worldwide. We are undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks and buses to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Lead to join our Huntsville Engine Plant as we expand our manufacturing footprint to include a second engine line. The highly flexible assembly line utilizes error-proofing and in-process quality audit stations to build quality product in station. This role will be closely tied to current production, instead of introducing new products. Hours for this position will be Monday-Thursday 6:30am to 5:00 PM

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience in product manufacturing OR Master's degree and at least 1 year of experience in product manufacturing OR At least 5 years of experience in product manufacturing
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
  • We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering Degree Preferred (Mechanical, Industrial or Aerospace)
  • Experience in Capital Equipment Purchasing
  • Experience using PFMEA to identify improvement points
  • Heavy Assembly Line experience
  • Proficient in computer usage including MS Office.
  • Able to learn internal applications
  • Must have thorough mechanical understanding of machines, tools, vehicles, and their design
  • Able to work well in energetic manufacturing environment with positive attitude, ethics and International Values
  • Demonstrate advanced reasoning skills, problem sensitivity, and data analysis
  • Advanced mathematical skills; be able to use engineering judgment and critical thinking
  • Demonstrate ability to be self-directed

Responsibilities

  • Support the S13 Diesel Engine Assembly Line in day to day production activities to meet customer product demand
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Provide Technical Expertise to quality department
  • React to machinery uptime issues and drive towards permanent, cost effective and long term solutions
  • Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment
  • Standardizes manufacturing processes by benchmarking other facilities’ manufacturing processes
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results
  • Assist in the accomplishment of plant quality objectives
  • Follow up on the implementation of engineering changes and variations from design specifications as well as new program developments
  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and improved efficiency
  • Initiates, develops and pursues capital appropriation projects
  • Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams
