About The Position

As part of the talented Plant 17 Engineering team, you will play a hands-on, high-impact role in Mercury’s aluminum foundry, owning a dedicated family of castings from melt to finished part. This role is ideal for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer who wants to work directly on the shop floor, apply engineering fundamentals in a real manufacturing environment, and see your ideas turn into castings that meet and exceed customer expectations. You will partner closely with operators, tooling, quality, and downstream teams to improve processes, solve production challenges, and support new program launches in a fast-paced, high-volume foundry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Metallurgical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of experience
  • Working knowledge of high-pressure die casting, lost foam, and mental finishing operations
  • A team-oriented mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving foundry manufacturing environment
  • Desire to be hand-on at the shop-floor level within a foundry environment
  • Ability to deliver results independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills
  • Ability to analyze process data to identify issues, support troubleshooting, and drive improvement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications including Teams, SharePoint, and Planner

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on technical engineering support across the full metal casting process, from melt, cast, finishing to downstream operations; resolves technical problems and recommends production improvements
  • Develop technical ownership as the subject matter expert for a defined family of castings
  • Analyzes and develops solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures
  • Develop and apply engineering standards and procedures, and provides advice on issues within the engineering field
  • Ensure that quality levels and industry standards are maintained or improved in the manufacturing process
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving casting quality, extending tool life, increasing trimming and finishing efficiency, reducing cost, and improving safety.
  • Support new casting program launches by providing DFM input and collaborating with tooling, simulation, and project management teams.
  • Maintain tool maintenance and part quality records to support troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and long-term process stability.
  • Understand and improve how casting quality impacts downstream operations such as trimming, machining, leak testing, and painting.
  • Read and interpret casting and machining prints, tolerances, and CMM reports.
  • Serve as a key contributor to the PPAP process, supporting documentation, validation, and customer requirements.
