About The Position

This internship offers opportunities for problem-solving and innovation within manufacturing processes. The role involves making moderate enhancements or improvements to systems and processes to solve problems or improve the effectiveness of the job area. Problems may require understanding of broader issues and drawing from prior experiences for analysis. The intern will work under general supervision, potentially managing projects or processes within the job area, and may be responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees. The position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, or related field.
• Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with soldering and/or basic electronic manufacturing processes.
• Experience with basic CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).
• Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Yellow or Green Belt.
• Experience with Minitab, JMP, or other statistical software.

Responsibilities

• Make moderate enhancements or improvements to systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of job area.
• Solve problems by drawing from prior experiences and analysis of issues.
• Communicate with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures.
• Recommend enhancements to systems and processes.
• Work to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within job area (potentially).
• Manage projects or processes with general supervision.
• Be responsible for entire projects or processes within job area (potentially).
• Manage projects with responsibility for the delegation of work and the review of others' work product (potentially).
