About The Position

Zenix Aerospace is a global leader in structural airframe and engine components for the aerospace and space industries, with a global footprint in eight strategic locations across the US, UK, and South East Asia. They are a trusted partner in aerospace excellence, designing and delivering high-technology aerospace components. Zenix Aerospace Ketema, located in El Cajon, CA, specializes in producing complex fabrications and machined components from titanium and nickel alloys for aircraft and turbine engine builders, as well as precision products for space, marine, and ground-based applications. The company is seeking a full-time Manufacturing Engineer Intern for the 1st Shift (6:30am – 3:00pm) at their Ketema facility. The internship consists of hands-on projects involved with areas such as design, manufacturing, and operations.

Requirements

  • Answer telephones.
  • Use computerized spreadsheets to conduct analysis.
  • Use desktop publishing software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including being able to manage large amounts of data and tasks – Advanced.
  • Blueprint and schematics reading – Basic.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college preferred; completed or in process.

Nice To Haves

  • CAD, simulation, and/or 3D printing.
  • Software (NX, Solidworks, CATIA) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support of manufacturing practical processes.
  • Assumes Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities under the guidance of a Manufacturing Engineer for projects as assigned.
  • Works closely in designing techniques, tools, and principles.
  • Works together with engineering involving the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Supports unit initiatives.
  • Learns and understands systems and processes within a regulated industry.
  • Assists Project Engineers with managing and supporting the execution of projects.
  • Provides analysis and recommendations for equipment repair and maintenance projects.
  • Assists Manufacturing Engineers with tool and fixture designs, including modeling and drafting.
  • Compiles statistical process control data (SPC) to identify opportunities to reduce non-conformances and rework.
  • Assists Manufacturing Engineers with technical instruction updates to enhance manufacturing clarity.
  • Supports Manufacturing Engineers and Cell Leaders to observe manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Demonstrates problem solving and creative thinking skills.
  • Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills and thrives in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
