About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Student Intern will work with the Engineering, Operations, and Continuous Improvement teams, assisting in the design, development, and implementation of improvement processes to enhance the capacity, quality, and efficiency of product flow for manufacturing methods. This role involves applying Lean principles, researching new equipment, and conducting safety audits.

Requirements

  • In pursuit of a BA in Engineering or related field.
  • At least 1 previous intern rotation in a manufacturing environment or similar training.
  • Practical knowledge of continuous improvement and lean concepts.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and relevant engineering software.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic hardware.
  • Highly proficient in reading drawings, sketches, and interpreting design ideas.

  • Exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Self-directed and detail-oriented.
  • Basic understanding of reciprocating compressors and the function of major components in the oil & gas industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the mapping and layouts of plant, office, and production equipment to provide maximum utilization of facilities and efficiency of production.
  • Apply Lean principles to optimize work/process flow, set-up time reduction, and quick change over.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new equipment and tools to enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct safety audits to identify potential accident and health hazards in work areas.
  • Document standard work, including creation of work instructions, recording and analyzing cycle times, and value stream mapping.
