About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer Intern completes process equipment projects and activities on the shop floor. The focus areas include continuous improvement activities to meet business unit cost and productivity targets, as well as layout, process, and technology projects to optimize shop floor operations to ensure safety, quality, cost, and delivery efficiencies. Requirements

  • Degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial technology, operations management, or related field required.
  • Proficient with Solidworks or CAD software.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Regular attendance at work is required.
  • Ability to wear required personal protection gear (i.e. hearing, eye and foot protection as well as other personal protective equipment such as gloves and aprons, etc.).
  • Ability to tolerate loud noise (maximum of 95 dB).
  • Ability to tolerate extreme heat, cold and dusty environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CI / Lean tools and methodologies, Green or Black belt preferred.
  • Experience with ISO9001 and FDA environment is preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing or converting is preferred.
  • JDE, SAP or similar experience helpful.
  • Automation, robotics, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and drive sustainable improvements related to employee safety.
  • Support off shifts and weekends projects as required.
  • Manage continuous improvement and capital projects.
  • Resolve day-to-day production issues and improve existing processes.
  • Troubleshoot existing and new product problems, working in a team environment to solve product function and quality issues.
  • Respond to operational challenges and customer demands.
  • Collaborate with other departments to deliver on expectations.
  • Develop work instructions, routings, and other documents to support product quality and design integrity.
  • Design production line layouts, workstation layouts, equipment and material flow layouts, and stocking programs.
  • Develop capital plans and assist in the selection, design, and implementation of new production lines and automation projects.
