About The Position

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to support the development and standardization of manufacturing and assembly processes. This role works directly on the production floor with skilled assemblers to observe, understand, and document step-by-step assembly processes into clear, effective Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This is a hands-on opportunity to apply engineering fundamentals in a real-world, high-volume manufacturing environment—where your work will directly impact training, safety, and operational performance.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Interest in manufacturing, production systems, and hands-on engineering work
  • Comfortable working in a production environment alongside hourly employees
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Nice To Haves

  • You are the type of student who wants to get out from behind a desk and see how things are actually built.
  • Enjoys solving real-world problems, not just theoretical ones.
  • Can communicate clearly and is not afraid to ask questions on the production floor.
  • Takes pride in making things simpler, clearer, and more efficient.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Collaborating directly with assemblers and production leads to learning and documenting real-time assembly processes.
  • Translate hands-on work into clear, structured instructions for training and daily operations.
  • Document tools, materials, process steps, and quality checkpoints.
  • Capture photos and visual aids to enhance clarity and usability.
  • Validate procedures with production teams to ensure accuracy and practicality.
  • Incorporate safety requirements and PPE standards into all documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and standardization.

Benefits

  • Direct, hands-on experience in a manufacturing and assembly environment
  • Exposure to standard work, Lean principles, and process improvement
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams.
  • The opportunity to create documentation used for real employee training and operations.
  • Insight into how engineering decisions impact efficiency, safety, and product quality
  • Career development and learning opportunities
  • Supportive Environment: Collaborate with leaders who value Trust, Respect, Integrity, Shared Risk, and Simplicity
  • Career Foundation: Build skills that translate directly into full-time engineering roles in manufacturing and operations.
