About The Position

Kenworth Truck Company manufactures heavy- and medium-duty trucks and develops fuel-saving technologies, including aerodynamic vehicles, natural gas trucks, and diesel-electric hybrids.

The Manufacturing Engineer Intern supports senior manufacturing engineers and project managers with information and data collection. Using data and facts, the intern recommends manufacturing improvements related to capacity, cost reduction, quality, and safety, and implements assigned improvements in production. The intern also develops sustainable training plans, creates and audits process or equipment documentation, updates plant layouts using AutoCAD, presents project work to local and division management, provides periodic updates to the manufacturing engineering manager, and presents internship accomplishments at the end of the summer. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Be a junior- or senior-level college student enrolled in an engineering program.
• Be proficient with Microsoft Office software.
• Be proficient in AutoCAD.
• Meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Support senior manufacturing engineers and project managers with information and data collection.
• Recommend manufacturing improvements related to capacity, cost reduction, quality, and safety, based on data and facts.
• Implement assigned project improvements in production and develop sustainable training plans.
• Develop, improve, and audit current process or equipment documentation, including training plans.
• Develop and present project assignments to local and division management.
• Provide periodic project updates to the manufacturing engineering manager.
• Update plant layouts as assigned using AutoCAD.
• Create a PowerPoint presentation and present internship accomplishments at the end of the summer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
