About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer III will be part of the manufacturing engineering department to support production operations by designing, building, manufacturing, and implementing improvements to the process. The position requires a results-oriented individual with a history of driving change, strong analytical skills, and previous experience in an engineer-to-order/make-to-order project environment. Primary objectives include driving customer-demanded initiatives, continuous improvement, and documenting processes critical to sustainable manufacturing performance.

BS / MS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial engineering.
Proficiency in SolidWorks & AutoCAD
Good understanding and experience in implementing LEAN initiatives, leading Kaizen events, driving improvements achieving significant savings and profits.
Relevant experience in a make to order/engineer to order project environment.
Minimum of 10 years of experience as Manufacturing Engineer, Operations Engineer, Process Engineer or other related roles in a heavy/industrial manufacturing environment.
Previous experience in development of fixtures & Jigs.
Familiarity with Fabrication, Welding & Assembly processes.
Experience in project management, leading CAPEX projects, reviewing specs, maintaining budgets, implementing the equipment, leading training sessions and delivering the final product turn-key to operations.
Experienced in the implementation and use of ERP systems.
Experience in implementation of Lean Processes such as Standardized Work Instructions, 5S, Process Improvement Initiatives etc.
High proficiency in Blueprint reading and P&ID interpretation.

Nice To Haves

LEAN / Six Sigma Black Belt certification is a plus.
Master’s degree in manufacturing, or mechanical engineering.
Six Sigma Green belt certification is preferred.
Welding and NDE experience and training.

Responsibilities

Evaluate production activities through data analysis to identify opportunities for improvements in productivity, material flow, safety, quality, and cost. Prioritize actions, establish schedules, and implement measures to realize savings.
Lead the implementation of key Lean elements: Standardized Work Instructions, Value Stream Mapping, and Kaizen/5S.
Lead the labor estimating function by providing estimates of direct labor. Develop and maintain cost models. Conduct time studies and audits to validate and adjust labor estimates.
Manage multiple CAPEX projects, including ROQ, Scope of Work creation, Gantt creation, purchase and acquisition, implementation, and preparation for equipment.
Facilitate and/or lead cross-functional teams with Engineering, Production, and Estimating to drive efficiencies and eliminate non-value-added activities.
Collaborate with design engineering in concurrent engineering efforts to ensure manufacturability. Proactively identify opportunities for improved manufacturability and coordinate implementation.
Provide shop floor feedback on product design and manufacturability issues to Engineering and DFMAs.
Document and track all cost savings and process improvements against targets.
Evaluate Quality data and implement improvement activities to ensure all quality requirements are met.
Plan and execute facility and work cell layout modifications based on planned products and workload to optimize material and product flow.
Develop, design, justify, and implement appropriate production tools, equipment, and other assets to maximize labor efficiency and reduce total cost.
