  • Working knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation.
  • Experience using 3D CAD software.
  • Experience designing manufacturing tooling, fixtures, or gauges.
  • Knowledge of root-cause analysis, corrective action, process capability, and statistical analysis methods.
  • Experience creating manufacturing plans, work instructions, process specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with bills of materials, manufacturing routers, and engineering change control.
  • Ability to make independent, data-driven decisions and manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Strong written, verbal, technical-reporting, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and satisfy applicable U.S. export-control requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with PTC Creo, including 3D modeling, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or another comparable CAD platform may be considered.
  • Formal GD&T training or certification.
  • Experience applying ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience with tolerance-stack analysis and inspection planning.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, PFMEA, control plans, and process validation.
  • Experience supporting new-product introduction and production scale-up.
  • Experience with automated or semi-automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience in energetic materials, pyrotechnics, ordnance, aerospace, or defense manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, qualify, and improve manufacturing processes for R&D and production products.
  • Lead the transition of new products and processes from development into full-rate production.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability and Assembly principles during product and process development.
  • Review engineering drawings and specifications for manufacturability, inspectability, and production readiness.
  • Apply GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and perform tolerance-stack analyses to support manufacturing and inspection requirements.
  • Create and modify models, drawings, tooling, and fixtures using PTC Creo or comparable CAD software.
  • Design, procure, validate, and implement manufacturing tooling, fixtures, gauges, and equipment.
  • Develop manufacturing process flows, plans, routers, bills of materials, and detailed work instructions.
  • Establish process parameters, acceptance criteria, standard work, and production methods.
  • Develop and maintain Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses, control plans, and manufacturing risk assessments.
  • Conduct process capability studies, time studies, capacity analyses, and production-rate assessments.
  • Use statistical methods and production data to monitor and improve process performance.
  • Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions for manufacturing issues.
  • Support nonconformance reviews, material review board activities, and production-floor troubleshooting.
  • Support process validation, first-article builds, pilot production, and production-readiness reviews.
  • Identify and implement improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, yield, cycle time, and labor efficiency.
  • Evaluate labor, material, tooling, and equipment costs for development and production products.
  • Develop technical requirements and business justifications for capital equipment purchases.
  • Support engineering change control and ensure manufacturing documentation remains accurate and current.
  • Work with Supply Chain and suppliers to address manufacturability, quality, and production-readiness concerns.
  • Coordinate with R&D, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and EHS personnel to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Manage multiple manufacturing projects, including schedules, budgets, risks, and stakeholder communication.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers and manufacturing personnel.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable safety, quality, configuration-control, and documentation requirements.
