Manufacturing Engineers develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying products and manufacturing methods. They provide premier engineering and manufacturing support expertise to enable on-time, lowest cost hardware delivery with performance and reliability that exceed customer expectations. They execute across all phases of a program including proposal capture, process development, transition to production, and production support. Manufacturing Engineers design, control, and improve the manufacturing process and system design through a collaborative effort with the value stream team. You would apply your skills to implement improvements that reduce cycle time and cost and improve productivity, while maintaining a high level of safety in the manufacturing environment and quality within the product. The Patriot Missile Manufacturing Engineering team in Andover, MA is seeking a first shift manufacturing engineer II.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with CAD modeling tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred majors in Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering
  • Knowledge and ability to apply Six Sigma and/or DFMA principles and techniques
  • Technical drawing interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Proficiency with CAD solid modeling tools (preference for CREO/ProE) and/or simulation tools
  • Experience with designing, programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated tooling and machinery
  • Experience with Refurbishment/Repair or Warranty requirements and processing of Government Furnished Material (GFM) or Equipment (GFE)
  • Development of Specialized Tooling (Jigs, Fixtures, Packaging) experience
  • Experience with military and industry standards
  • Experience in developing manufacturing processes for electromechanical assemblies
  • Experience in developing work cell layouts
  • Conducting safety/ergonomic assessments
  • Experience with MRL and TRL (Manufacturing Readiness Level and Technology Readiness Level) Assessments
  • Solid understanding of configuration management practices
  • Experience with cable and harness fabrication, including crimping requirements
  • Experience with electromechanical integration of piece parts and subassemblies, including a knowledge of cable and harness routing techniques
  • Familiarity with standard material handling practices, especially as they pertain to Electrostatic Discharge mitigation requirements
  • Experience with the implementation of lifting and movement requirements for various sized assemblies and equipment
  • Familiarity with Paint, Plating, Chromate / Chemical Conversions processes

Responsibilities

  • Developing, maintaining, and reviewing Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs) including assembly instructions, workflow/routing, labor standards, tool and fixture designs
  • Supporting a manufacturing area as part of cross-functional team by guiding the production team through process troubleshooting and incorporation of engineering changes into the MDP
  • Dispositioning non-conforming material with root cause and corrective action analysis as required
  • Driving Continuous Improvement through process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk to assemblers, automate, reduce costs (both direct and indirect) using CORE principles and data driven decision making
  • Providing real-time technical support to manufacturers and fabricators; in-house as well as the supply base.
  • Leading corrective action investigations to prevent recurrence
  • Ability to travel as required
