About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer II plans, specs, and designs equipment and processes, assembly tooling, and assembly line layout to coordinate activities for New Product Introduction (NPI) and continuation projects. This position ensures process design supports manufacturing of products that meet quality standards while minimizing production problems and costs. They will develop and maintain manufacturing line layouts for maximizing space, efficiency, and effectiveness. They also ensure compliance with industry safety and design standards and guidelines. The Manufacturing Engineer II will contribute to moderately complex aspects of engineering projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Automation, Electrical, or other related engineering discipline, and 3-6 years of previous engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability developing and implementing automation processes and equipment is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Instrumentation and Process Control engineering concepts and design including circuits, control systems, as well as a general knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member to accomplish objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, changing priorities, and demanding deadlines.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and leading both long-term programs and projects, as well as address shot-term operational issues.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as SOLIDWORKS.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.

Nice To Haves

  • Electronics, pneumatics, automation, PLCs, motion controls, and associated programming software experience preferred.
  • Practical hands-on experience with equipment, machining, and fabrication is a plus.
  • Programming experience is preferred.
  • An understanding of CNC machining or CAM is preferred.
  • Firearm and sports optics experience along with a knowledge of the shooting sports industry strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build prototypes to prove complex and high-risk processes prior to final design.
  • Manufacture tooling design and integration.
  • Work with Product Designers, Project Managers, and Manufacturing team members to refine product and equipment designs.
  • Develop and implement long range plans for process control improvements.
  • Lean process design.
  • Tooling design with CAD, SOLIDWORKS preferred.
  • Train production teams with specific certification criteria.
  • Develop and modify procedures and training guidelines as needed for variety of processes, including training of setup and maintenance personnel.
  • Create and maintain SOPs and work instructions per ISO formatting.
  • Identify potential process improvement projects, design, and develop programs to address findings.
  • Develop, review, maintain, and update related documentation, files, procedures, databases, drawings, and schematics in order to ensure integrity of unit instrument and process control technologies.
  • Complete assigned work within agreed upon schedule and budget while maintaining high level of quality.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
