About The Position

Crown Equipment Corporation, a global leader in lift truck manufacturing, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II - Machining for its Troy Plant. This role is responsible for proposing and implementing improvements to department and plant operations through manufacturing engineering analysis. The position involves strategic planning and execution of manufacturing process development, product introduction, project management for small to medium projects, and general manufacturing support. Key activities include leading continuous improvement initiatives based on performance metrics and resolving production problems. The engineer will also be responsible for developing reports, project briefings, and management presentations.

Requirements

  • 16+ years related experience
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Employee must be able to drive a personal vehicle to conduct company business < 20% per week (8 hours) and/or travel locally between company locations during scheduled workday.
  • Certain technical skills and training such as CNC programming, CAD layout, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), process capability theory and statistical process control (SPC) may be required.

  • Must be able to lead cross-functional teams, manage medium to large projects, and contribute to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Requires excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to support and mentor Process Technicians, Supervisors and others.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to lead the discussion, meeting, project, etc., and communicate across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Propose improvements to department/plant operations through manufacturing engineering analysis of existing operations compared to future requirements based on capacity, cost reduction, safety and/or risk avoidance opportunities.
  • Serve as a recognized process owner responsible for strategic planning and execution of various manufacturing engineering functions including manufacturing process development and support, product introduction, manufacturing project management of small to medium projects, as well as general manufacturing support and team participation.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives based on performance metrics.
  • Review production problems as they are identified and implement solutions.
  • Develop reports, project briefings and management presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
