Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
  • Manufacturing experience in a metal fabrication, industrial equipment, door systems, loading dock equipment, or related manufacturing environment are preferrable
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Have experience with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software package such as Oracle, JD Edwards, or SAP.
  • Analytical problem solver
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and accomplish goals in a timely manner
  • Effective communicator
  • Ability to work in a group environment
  • Ability to multitask to meet customer requirements
  • Fluency in English is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using CREO 3D modeling software a plus
  • Lean methodology experience a plus
  • Mechanical design experience a plus
  • Hörmann manages operations with SAP; therefore, experience with this package is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Construct assembly drawings, costed BOMS, and standardized work instructions for new product introductions.
  • Provide day-to-day manufacturing engineering support to loading dock equipment and impact door production lines.
  • Work with field services to create and maintain installation, service, and training.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing, equipment, and assembly issues to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Work with maintenance personnel to develop equipment PM plans.
  • Act on Engineering Change Requests as needed.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Analyze production data and identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve cycle times, and increase productivity.
  • Provide technical training and support to production personnel.
  • As experts for our products, the candidate may be given additional assignments which could require the utilization of any number of resources to achieve task objectives. Such projects could require skills or resources outside of the normal scope of the position(s); however, such assignments are to be expected and are not considered outside the scope of this position’s responsibilities.
