Position Overview: As our Manufacturing Engineer – Fuel Loading, you will coordinate with customers and suppliers, create SolidWorks designs, and support assembly and testing of electromechanical systems. You will also help develop advanced manufacturing technologies, prepare key documentation, and provide broad engineering support across prototype and production activities.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g. Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering other engineering related disciplines) is required.
  • A minimum of four (4) year’s of experience in at least one of the following related fields: Tool Design, Prototype Design, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Must be fluent in 3D modeling using Solidworks.
  • Must be able to produce engineering and/or manufacturing drawings with familiarity in GD&T, material specifications, hardware standards, and weld callouts.
  • Must have knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Must be familiar with basic electrical components and how they must interface with mechanical systems.
  • Must have general knowledge of project engineering activities (task plans, schedules, etc.).
  • Must have hands-on manufacturing experience for industrial equipment and familiarity with both traditional and advanced manufacturing methods.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to communicate with teams of technical people.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations.
  • Must have knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
  • Must be a strong team player with the ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with manufacturing for nuclear reactor applications is desired but not required.
  • Tool design specific to Nuclear Power Plants, particularly in: reactor disassembly/reassembly, component inspections and/or repairs, maintenance activities, refueling, or fuel loading.

Responsibilities

  • Create design models and detailed drawings using Solidworks CAD software and other design methods.
  • Provide engineering support involving assembly, testing, inspection, and qualification of mechanical components and systems.
  • Lead and assist in the development and qualification of advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Support assembling prototype and production equipment.
  • Write manufacturing/assembly plans, procedures, and instructions as well as assist with testing/qualification reports.
  • Support engineering procurement efforts and control of tooling.
  • Support Operations (hand tools, power tools, machining equipment, and automated equipment).
  • Inspect and characterize components.
  • Lead and coordinate activities with customers, internal and external suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide other engineering and manufacturing support tasks as required.
