About The Position

This Co-op position in Manufacturing Engineering is for Spring 2027, focusing on Body in White (BIW) operations in Kings Mountain, NC. The role involves improving process stability, efficiency, quality, and safety in a production environment. Co-ops will contribute to real projects related to process optimization, tooling improvement, digitalization, and continuous improvement. The team is hands-on and committed to enhancing BIW operations as production volumes increase, involving redesigning processes, tools, and fixtures, and strengthening standards and documentation.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering
  • Co-ops are not enrolled in academic courses during their co-op rotation and may work up to 40 hours per week
  • Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Interest in manufacturing, continuous improvement, and process optimization
  • Ability to work hands-on in a production environment
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to lean manufacturing, time studies, or industrial engineering methods
  • Experience with Office 365, Power BI, or Power Automate, AI tools
  • Interest in data-driven problem-solving and manufacturing digitalization
  • Previous academic or internship experience in automotive or manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Conduct time studies and analyze production data to identify improvement opportunities
  • Support process restoration and standardization to improve flow, cycle times, and operational stability
  • Assist with fixture and tooling evaluation for BIW assembly equipment
  • Help implement digital tools and visual management solutions that improve problem-solving and decision-making
  • Participate in kaizen workshops and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Work closely with manufacturing engineers and production teams to deliver practical, measurable results
