Requirements

  • Enrollment as Engineering or Engineering Technology student
  • Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD (Solidworks and/or AutoCAD) and other computer programs
  • Ability to independently move about factory and lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Work with Manufacturing Engineer to develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods.
  • Utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts and fabrication processes, design, document and create production aids, jigs and fixtures.
  • Gain knowledge of tooling and production equipment and their capabilities, then assist with maintenance, upgrades or replacement needs.
  • Develop familiarity with assembly methods, lean manufacturing and quality control standards to assist with improvements in assembly areas.
  • Work alongside engineering staff to capture production data, first pass yield, timing and safety results, to implement tools of continuous improvement.
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment for maximum efficiency.
  • Develop and implement recommendations for tool redesign changes of materials, methods, etc.
  • Research manufacturing trends, new technology and recommends improvements.
  • Investigate manufacturing problems and recommends solutions.
  • Facilitate Lean Manufacturing initiatives in all manufacturing facilities, participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Investigate and prepare requests for capital improvements.
  • Review Health, Safety and Environmental.
  • Perform various projects as assigned.
