Our Protective Design & Security (PD&S) practice works to limit the consequences of adverse events by minimizing vulnerabilities to protect people and critical assets. Innovation is at the core of our firm and our PD&S practice. CORE studio is Thornton Tomasetti’s virtual incubator of ideas. Its name derives from the union of computational modeling and research and development, which are at the core of our firm’s mission. The Role You will work directly with the PD&S Ingenuity lead and CORE studio on developing the firm’s capabilities in Immersive Experiences through Unreal Engine (UE). Curiosity, ability to learn and develop, and technical expertise in game design in UE are required for this position.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in Unreal Engine
  • Experience developing custom blueprints in Unreal Engine
  • Experience with geometry translation through Datasmith and visual Dataprep
  • Experience developing behavior trees
  • Experience with Revit and Rhino
  • Familiarity with architecture, engineering, and construction industry

Responsibilities

  • Work with the PD&S Ingenuity Lead and CORE studio on developing practical Unreal Engine experiences.
  • Develop real-time security experiences from Revit models, including translation of electronic and operational security systems to UE.
  • Creation of custom blueprint assets for security elements
  • Development of best practices for model translation through Dataprep
  • Development of behavior trees for operational security simulations
  • Investigate methods for building and city scale digital twin solutions that incorporate GIS data, including real time data integration
