About The Position

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Manufacturing Electrical Engineer to support our manufacturing operations in Coralville, IA. This role focuses on keeping test equipment running properly, supporting technicians with complex troubleshooting, and improving test processes to ensure smooth, reliable production that will allow us to ensure we are able to meet customer delivery needs. This is an onsite role in Coralville, IA and may be eligible for relocation. Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Manufacturing and or electrical component trouble-shooting experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.​ U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

  • Lean manufacturing experience

  • Experience with sequel programming
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Experience with Test Stand and TDMS (Test Data management System database)
  • Formal experience with root cause analysis

  • Practical knowledge of test solutions and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Participate in cross-functional team efforts to improve test yields, production throughput, test capacity, and overall product Quality.
  • Identify component test failure trends and perform root cause analysis. Implement corrective actions to resolve. Prepare test failure analysis reports as required for production.
  • Study performance and reliability of existing test equipment and establish programs and solutions for decreasing test equipment downtime.
  • Support technicians and resolve complex test failures quickly.
  • Analyze test approach, plans, and processes for cost reduction, test efficiency, test yields, and manufacturing test capacity opportunities.
  • Provide capacity planning and utilization analysis for accurate staffing and test equipment needs. Identify new test approaches that will minimize production staffing needs and capital requirements.
  • Select and order capital test equipment using sound cost/payback analysis. Generate and track Appropriation Requests.
  • Improve existing test fixtures and equipment needed to improve test performance.
  • Participates in Production Readiness Reviews to determine suitability of new designs for production.
  • Support efforts to conduct gage R&R efforts on new test solutions to verify consistent product and equipment performance. Drive manufacturing process improvements across multiple assembly process steps
  • Analyze and understand factory needs and requirements.
  • Conduct Process Flow analysis and make improvements.
  • Develop tools that enable manufacturing or increase production rates.
  • Implement Procedure and process improvements based on safety, quality, and productivity.
