The Manufacturing Controls Engineer applies technical knowledge and expertise to identify and develop solutions to optimize processes. The role collaborates with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality to support the plant in achieving its performance goals.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated control and automation troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Data analysis skills using Minitab or JMP to perform process capability studies and to drive continuous process improvements.
  • Ability to do problem solving using various methods such as 5-Why, fishbone diagrams, DMAIC, etc. to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Knowledge/Interpretation of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T)
  • Experience with computer aided design packages such as Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
  • Ability to read and interpret electricals schematics, ladder logic, and automation programming.
  • Demonstrated computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High attention to detail and self-motivation skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience using calipers, indicators, and other basic measuring equipment.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with peers, managers, and the shop floor workforce.
  • Associate’s degree in engineering AND two years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in engineering

Responsibilities

  • Supports safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets by identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects to reduce equipment downtime, increase productivity, reduce perishable tooling costs, and reduce scrap, aligning with yearly plant metrics.
  • Aids engineering team members in problem-solving and corrective action for manufacturing controls processes as needed. Shares and documents lessons learned with team members.
  • Creates and improves documentation used in production and maintenance for all equipment. This includes work instructions, tooling sheets, troubleshooting guides, and other relevant documents.
  • Supports the operations team in solving production problems as needed.
  • Supports the maintenance team on machine repairs as needed.
  • Contributes to the Plant's goal of reducing environmental impact annually.
