The Optical Communications segment has evolved into a comprehensive provider of optical solutions for the broader communications industry, serving both carrier and enterprise networks. This role is crucial for ensuring internal audiences within Optical Communications are informed, inspired, and engaged through strategic communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in business communications for a large organization.
  • Proficiency in writing creative and business-like content for print, electronic, and other media.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and SharePoint.
  • Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute communications strategies in collaboration with the global business communications manager to align business units with business goals.
  • Research, conduct interviews, write, edit, and publish content in various formats for different communication channels.
  • Contribute to the COC Communications team's efforts in developing strategic narratives and enhancing the corporate brand and reputation.
  • Assist in communicating strategies and business priorities from executive leaders by developing materials such as email messages, video scripts, talking points, Q&A, and speeches.
  • Support or manage internal meetings and conferences, including quarterly business updates, and handle event planning and logistics.
  • Provide communications counsel to plant managers and operational facility staff.
  • Ensure consistency of internal communications messages across all mediums, businesses, functions, and geographies.
  • Assist in disseminating information to internal audiences during crisis situations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal business partners, special project teams, and employee groups to serve as a communications resource and subject matter expert.
  • Measure the effectiveness of communications efforts and propose improvements and optimizations.
  • Develop and maintain "best practice" processes and guidelines for communications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
