About The Position

The Manufacturing Chemical Process Engineer role is responsible for developing and deploying process and physical chemistry tools, models, and expertise throughout the technology development pipeline, from early-stage research to commercial design. This can involve the use of thermodynamics, molecular transport, and kinetic modeling, as a basis for conversion and separation processes.

Requirements

  • B.S. Chemical Engineering
  • 3-10 years of experience in refining and/or chemicals manufacturing roles

Nice To Haves

  • Process design exposure
  • Familiarity with advanced control strategies/optimization software
  • Risk assessment and HAZOP experience
  • Understanding of safety relief limits (modelling and evaluations)
  • Understanding of modelling software (PROII, ASPEN, etc)

Responsibilities

  • Mentoring less experienced engineers on design practices, unit health monitoring, and troubleshooting
  • Providing support of abnormal and non-routine operations, including unit Turnarounds
  • Aiding in the development of long term vision and strategy for product line improvements
  • Organizing and design plant testing and product trials
  • Influencing others and drive toward solutions without direct authority
  • Working in a team environment with other engineering disciplines, operations, and mechanical personnel and interface with corporate technology support
  • Interfacing with 3rd party vendors (cost optimizations as well as developing/driving solutions)
  • Leading/support incident investigations as technical lead
  • Providing support for developing and implementing various capital projects to drive margin or mitigate SHE risk
  • Providing assistance in the field during plant startups, shutdowns or upsets
  • Demonstrating courage of conviction to drive healthy tension for both business team and corporate technology support to promote fit for purpose outcome
