Chemours is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing Technology team at our Washington Works site in Parkersburg, West Virginia. This position will report directly to the Monomer/P&S/SW Manufacturing Technology Manager and will provide process engineering support within the Monomer production area. This role performs chemical engineering assignments supporting production, process improvement, troubleshooting, equipment reliability, and capital projects. The engineer will work closely with operations, maintenance, and other engineering disciplines to monitor process performance, resolve manufacturing issues, and implement safe and effective process improvements. The position will also support commissioning, startups, shutdowns, process testing, and capital-project execution, with opportunities to take on increasing technical responsibility as experience develops.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • Minimum of 6 months of Chemical Engineering-related experience, including qualifying co-op or internship experience
  • Experience or exposure to chemical processing methodologies, process troubleshooting, and structured problem-solving in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace and process safety
  • Proficiency with standard business software, including Microsoft Office, with strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • 1–5 years of professional Chemical Engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing, chemical processing, petrochemical, refining, or similar environment
  • Hands-on exposure to plant chemical processing equipment, such as reaction vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, piping systems, instrumentation, control valves, and process-control systems
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM), including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Management of Change (MOC)
  • Familiarity with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), process flow diagrams, and chemical engineering process-simulation tools such as Aspen Plus or similar software
  • Exposure to process improvement, process reliability, operating-procedure development, or capital-project execution in a manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Monitor chemical process performance and proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve manufacturing process issues
  • Partner with plant operators, maintenance personnel, and engineering teams to improve process performance, reliability, capacity, efficiency, and uptime
  • Develop and implement chemical process improvements, including changes to process conditions, piping, valves, controls, and operating procedures
  • Support the design and execution of process engineering projects, including small capital projects, equipment installations, and plant upgrades
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and block flow diagrams
  • Conduct field assessments and audits of chemical processing equipment and support troubleshooting of process and equipment performance issues
  • Support preventive and predictive programs related to process reliability and chemical engineering scope
  • Participate in commissioning, startups, shutdowns, turnarounds, and equipment restoration activities as needed
  • Support process experiments, testing, and data collection to evaluate and improve manufacturing operations
  • Apply Chemours engineering, process safety, equipment, and maintenance standards and policies in assigned work
