Manufacturing Associate - Pallet Builder/Repair
About The Position
The Manufacturing Associate builds and repairs wooden pallets from freshly cut or recycled wood to fulfill customer needs. This is a piece-rate position, where earnings increase with the number of pallets repaired. The role is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and pays $16.00 per hour starting. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 1:30 PM. The work takes place in conditions that may include heat, cold, outdoor elements, and airborne particulates. Employees may need to work in different noise conditions depending on the location. Required personal protective equipment includes eye protection and safety shoes; ear protection is mandatory at several locations. The role also requires repetitive lifting and prolonged standing and movement throughout shifts.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to regularly lift wooden pallets weighing about 50 pounds.
- Quick hands, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to work in extreme conditions, including elements, heat, cold, and airborne particulates.
- Ability to repetitively lift up to 75 pounds and bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for entire shifts of varying lengths.
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including eye protection and safety shoes; ear protection is mandatory at several locations.
- Close, distance, and color vision.
- Good sense of balance and good eye-hand-foot coordination.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in lumber, warehouse, construction, carpentry, landscaping, or roofing.
Responsibilities
- Receive wood from the saw shop and assemble it with a nail gun along set stringers.
- Stack finished pallets by hand for forklift operators to move to the appropriate areas.
- Follow company procedures to maintain safety for yourself and others.
- Maintain high quality standards while producing a high volume of finished goods.
