About The Position

Inside the Role Corporate Manufacturing Engineering is seeking a motivated and curious Manufacturing Assembly Process Engineer (L7) who is eager to learn, take initiative, and grow within the Corporate Manufacturing Engineering organization. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on manufacturing work, learning new technologies, and solving practical problems. The successful candidate will support manufacturing projects, investigate production issues, and collaborate with engineering, plant, supplier, and cross-functional partners. The ideal candidate is respectful, resourceful, innovative, and committed to continuous self-improvement. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
  • Foundational knowledge of manufacturing, assembly processes, industrial engineering, mechanical systems, or related engineering principles.
  • Demonstrated interest in hands-on manufacturing engineering and technical problem-solving.
  • Strong willingness and ability to independently learn new subjects, tools, and technologies.
  • Resourceful approach to researching problems and identifying possible solutions.
  • Respectful and collaborative communication style.
  • Ability to organize assigned work and manage changing priorities.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20 - 25% to engage directly with manufacturing operations, support project implementation, and collaborate with teams across North America
  • Foundational ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, assembly layouts, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing quality tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, continuous learning, and professional development.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship, co-op, academic, or professional experience in truck, automotive, heavy-equipment, or high-volume manufacturing.
  • Exposure to safety-critical processes, torque-controlled fastening systems, tooling, automation, or controls.
  • Experience with CAD, manufacturing layouts, tooling design, data analysis, or process documentation.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, or structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Spanish-language proficiency.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing plant or hands-on technical environment.
  • Interest in automation, digital manufacturing, data analytics, robotics, or other emerging manufacturing technologies.
  • Demonstrated examples of independently learning a new skill or resolving an unfamiliar technical problem.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, implementation, and improvement of assembly manufacturing processes.
  • Assist with manufacturing layouts, tooling concepts, workstation designs, and assembly process flows.
  • Support safety-critical manufacturing systems, tooling, assembly processes, automation, and controls.
  • Participate in manufacturing launches, equipment installations, process validations, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Help develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, process requirements, and technical specifications.
  • Support efforts to ensure processes meet safety, quality, productivity, ergonomic, and operational requirements.
  • Investigate manufacturing issues by gathering information, reviewing available documentation, and working directly with plant personnel.
  • Research unfamiliar technical topics and identify possible solutions or alternatives.
  • Use data and structured problem-solving methods to help identify root causes.
  • Test ideas, document findings, and communicate recommendations clearly.
  • Seek support when needed while remaining accountable for making progress.
  • Approach challenges with curiosity and initiative by gathering information, exploring available resources, and contributing to problem resolution efforts.
  • Support manufacturing projects from planning through implementation.
  • Maintain assigned actions, schedules, documentation, and project information.
  • Coordinate with Design Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Logistics, Facilities, Environmental, and Plant teams.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and support needs clearly and promptly.
  • Take ownership of assigned deliverables and complete them with appropriate quality and attention to detail.
  • Adapt positively when priorities, requirements, or project conditions change.
  • Actively pursue opportunities to expand technical and manufacturing knowledge.
  • Use feedback as an opportunity to improve skills, judgment, and effectiveness.
