About The Position

The Manufacturing Apprentice prepares wiring, fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment for electrical signs to ensure proper performance and compliance with electrical codes. This entry-level role starts at $18 per hour and is based in Salt Lake City, Utah. The work includes wiring, testing, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing sign electrical systems, as well as assembling final sign parts and maintaining quality and safety standards. Work takes place in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.

Requirements

• High school diploma with up to six years of demonstrated experience in electricity, electronics, assembly, or related areas; or a combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documents, specifications, government coding information, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to electrical requirements.
• Ability to move electrical wiring, equipment, and completed signs.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person and electronically.
• Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical wiring of external and internal signs according to specifications and electrical codes.
• Test installed equipment or systems to identify hazards or the need for adjustment, relocation, or replacement.
• Install electrical supporting systems such as brackets and tracks.
• Troubleshoot and repair faulty equipment, systems, ballasts, and bulbs.
• Review plans and diagrams for accuracy of electrical work and sign assembly.
• Maintain an understanding of electrical code requirements for signs.
• Implement and maintain quality control and safety during electrical work and sign assembly.
• Assemble final sign parts.
• Clean signs.
• Ensure signs are UL approved.
• Affix electrical stickers to signs.
• Prepare, crate, and transport signs as needed.
• Perform other functions as necessary or assigned.
