About The Position

Using conventional manual machines and tooling, e.g., Bridgeport mill, lathe, etc., fabricate parts and components to predetermined specifications and dimensions, and apply knowledge and expertise to modify existing parts and components to meet specifics needs.

Requirements

  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, manuals & other technical documents.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. unaided.
  • Able to walk & stand for approximately 8 hours per day in a climate controlled shop environment.
  • Able to function at a high level of productivity without regular oversight.
  • 5 years of applicable experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Review example parts, drawings & instructions to ensure familiarity with parts requirements.
  • Measure, calculate, interpolate & extrapolate dimensions to ensure part conformity.
  • Select appropriate machines & tooling and plan the required sequence of machining operations to ensure part quality and maximum productivity.
  • Set up machine and machine parts consistent with best practices and industry standards.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damage.
  • Provide applicable technical insight and guidance to junior Machine Shop personnel and other interdepartmental personnel as circumstances require.
  • Maintain accurate accounting of inventory tag status, location and quantity.
  • Manages rework and/or otherwise disposition non-conforming inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned
