About The Position

As a Manual Machinist you will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Physical Job Location on-site at in Metropolis, IL. Real ID Required for job position. Competitive Pay: This position offers an hourly wage starting at $45+/hr depending on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• 4 Years of manual machining experience
• Experience using precision measuring tools and equipment
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance according to published guidelines.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals.

Nice To Haves

• Technical diploma in related area of study, such as Precision Machining, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, erect, install, and maintain shop machinery
• Calculate dimensions and tolerance using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and veneer calipers
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, machines and materials onto machines
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers or grinders
• Measure, examine and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments
• Set controls to regulate machining, or enter commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on shop equipment
