About The Position

Airtech is looking for an experienced Manual Machinist to set up and operate manual machine shop equipment to produce, modify, and repair precision parts. This is a hands-on machinist role for someone who is comfortable working with manual mills, lathes, precision measuring tools, blueprints, drawings, and machine shop equipment. The Manual Machinist will support production by making parts to specification, repairing or modifying components, and assisting with equipment-related needs when parts are not commercially available or in stock. This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys precision work, problem-solving, and using manual machining skills in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Manual machining experience required, including manual mill and lathe experience.
  • Ability to machine parts to engineering tolerances and company specifications.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, sketches, and technical instructions.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable making, modifying, or repairing parts for production equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Reliable, safety-minded, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of manual machining, machine shop, toolroom, or related experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school degree, certificate, or equivalent hands-on work experience preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, maintenance, or repair environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other common machine shop equipment.
  • Machine, modify, repair, or fabricate parts based on drawings, sketches, samples, or instructions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, manuals, and work instructions.
  • Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges to verify work.
  • Inspect parts before, during, and after machining to ensure they meet required tolerances and specifications.
  • Produce replacement or repair parts when parts are not commercially available or in stock.
  • Support equipment repairs, rebuilds, modifications, and improvements as needed.
  • Troubleshoot basic machining or part-fit issues and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe machine shop/work area.
  • Communicate part issues, material needs, equipment concerns, or safety hazards to the supervisor.
  • Follow company safety procedures and applicable ISO requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
