About The Position

Operate various manual machining tools and equipment to manufacture and repair mechanical assemblies. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, safety procedures, and the ability to work with various materials and equipment.

Requirements

High School diploma, plus trade school, vocational/technical school, military, or on-the-job training and/or certifications.
Ability to observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear (especially eye and ear protection).
Ability to record all data necessary to produce expected service and/or design results, including sizing’s and illustrations.
Ability to use measuring devices and techniques correctly to assure proper sizing’s.
Proficiency in performing milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring and conventional milling and lathe work, using various engine lathes (e.g., horizontal and vertical mills and horizontal boring mills).
Proficiency in performing various metalizing (metal spraying) and spray welding techniques as needed.
Understanding of materials and applications as required.
Proficiency in performing various welding operations, including setup and use of MIG, TIG, torch and stick welders.
Ability to set up and perform tool-post grinding operations (e.g., precision surface facing), broaching procedures, and Babbitt bearing work.
Ability to use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools, including but not limited to band saws, belt sanders, hand grinders, files, etc.
Ability to lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work and/or to observe safety precautions.
Willingness to assist other machinists and shop departments with skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor and shop manager.
Willingness to perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.

Responsibilities
