About The Position

This is a trainee position for a Manual Machinist on the 2nd and 3rd shifts. The role involves assisting in the setup and operation of manual machining tools, learning to interpret blueprints and use precision measuring instruments, and gaining experience in various machining tasks. The trainee will develop skills in blueprint reading, GD&T, basic math, and quality inspection procedures.

Requirements

  • No prior professional machining experience required
  • Ability to follow safety protocols diligently while working with machinery and hand tools

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with basic math, measurement tools (calipers, micrometers), and mechanical concepts is preferred
  • Strong interest in manufacturing, metalworking, or CNC technology is highly desirable
  • Basic understanding of blueprint reading and mechanical blueprint interpretation is a plus
  • Willingness to learn CNC programming concepts including CNC G-code programming and Fanuc controls
  • Prior exposure to lean manufacturing principles or plastics injection molding processes is advantageous but not mandatory

Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up and operating manual lathes, grinders, and other machining tools under supervision
  • Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications accurately
  • Learn to measure workpieces using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments
  • Support the execution of machining tasks involving metal and plastics materials with attention to detail
  • Gain experience in using hand tools, power tools, tooling, and fixtures for machining operations
  • Develop skills in blueprint reading, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and basic math calculations relevant to manufacturing processes
  • Participate in quality inspections utilizing measurement tools and ensure adherence to quality standards such as CNC quality inspection procedures
