About The Position

The Manicurist is an active member of the Spa Team who responds to all issues of divisional concern within the framework of the operation of the entire hotel. This role performs all spa menu services as they relate to the salon and according to their license, while maintaining a high level of guest service and satisfaction.

Requirements

  • At least 20 years of age.
  • Current New York State Nail Technician License.
  • At least two years of proven experience in the field, preferably in the hotel or resort business.
  • Proven work history in the areas of people and facility supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all spa menu services as they relate to the salon and according to their license.
  • Maintains a high level of guest service and satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates thorough familiarity of Salon menu services by performing professional recommendation of next experience for guests served in a meaningful and relevant manner as per licensure.
  • Assesses the needs of the guest and advises on recommended services, consults with guest and makes recommendations.
  • Provides high-quality manicures and pedicures which includes removing nail polish, cleaning, cutting and shaping nails, cuticle care, callus removal and the application of polish based on clients' preferences.
  • Learns benefits of ingredients and products used to be able to offer recommendations to guests to facilitate continued wellness and enhancement.
  • Learns the ingredients of products used to know possible contraindications due to allergies or medical issues provided by guests.
  • Participates in trainings, continuing education and learning and perfecting new styles and techniques. Maintains a creative mindset.
  • Provides a high level of professionalism to clients as well as co-workers.
  • Stocks, organizes, and maintains work stations and salon; prepares materials and supplies for daily operations.
  • Adheres to the standards of sanitation/disinfection/sterilization as directed by New York State Law and Spa policies and procedures.
  • Ensures prep and station areas are stocked with necessary items.
  • Facilitates open communication between the Mountain House, staff and management.
  • Assists coworkers with coverage needed of shifts in order to promote teamwork and the success of the spa.
  • Wears proper protective equipment when performing tasks that recommend such equipment.
  • Cleans designated equipment, such as nail clippers, cuticle pushers, nail files, pedicure station jets, hair brushes, combs, scissors, and other implements as assigned.
  • Listens well, communicates effectively and establishes working relationships with other staff, management, and guests that have a variety of educational backgrounds and values.
  • Works productively and efficiently with or without supervision when performing tasks.
  • Prioritizes and meets time goals in a calm professional manner.
  • Handles adversity, change or emergency situations calmly and with a level head.
  • Attends events, programs, and trainings as needed to enforce and support Mohonk Mountain House policies and culture.
  • Speaks, reads, and writes the English language and communicates in a clear and congenial manner, with guests, visitors, and employees. Hears verbal instructions, directions, and warnings.
  • Inspects the work of others by touch, sight, sound and smell for conformance to prescribed standards.
  • Reaches with hands and arms, bends, kneels, stoops, twists and flexes arms, walks up and down stairs/inclines, sits, climbs up/down ladders or stands for up to 5 hours at a time.
  • Lifts up to 50 pounds from ground level to 4 feet and carries a distance of up to 30 feet with/without assistance. Walks up to 3 miles per day.
  • Maneuvers carts or dollies safely with loads up to 100 pounds up and down stairs, elevators, through passageways or outdoors up to 100 feet.
  • Sees close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus.
  • Identifies and differentiates between variations and shades of color.
  • Maintains a flexible work schedule including days/nights, weekdays/weekends, holidays, and during peak periods of business.
  • Learns and successfully demonstrates the Mohonk Mountain House Service Steps with Service Strategies with guests and staff.
  • Adheres to Mohonk Mountain House’s Dress and Grooming Standards; presenting a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance and maintaining a positive, professional image to customers.
  • Learns and retains knowledge of historical facts and information about Mohonk Mountain House.
