About The Position

Global Impact Group LLC is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and ISO 9001 / ISO 17100 certified provider of interpretation and translation services. We provide secure, high-quality language solutions in 80+ spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies. We are seeking Mandinka Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Mandinka, a Mande language spoken in Gambia, Senegal, Guinea, and West African diaspora communities, is a rare but high-priority language often required in asylum and immigration interviews.

Requirements

Native or near-native fluency in Mandinka and English.
2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, NGO, legal, or government strongly preferred).
Strong knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and impartiality.
Cultural familiarity with Mandinka-speaking communities in West Africa.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.

Any certifications (community, NGO, medical, or court interpreting credentials preferred).

Responsibilities

Provide real-time Mandinka ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
Interpret accurately, neutrally, and with cultural sensitivity in asylum and immigration contexts.
Maintain confidentiality in line with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
Support both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation needs.
Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
