Managing Director Strategic Banking Accounts

About The Position

Monstro provides the AI-powered Financial Intelligence System for regulated financial institutions, enabling banks and wealth managers to deliver continuous, personalized, governed Financial Guidance to every client. This role is for a Managing Director of Strategic Banking Accounts to lead expansion into the largest financial institutions in the U.S. It is a senior individual contributor, quota-carrying role focused on closing platform deals and defining the strategic go-to-market motion. The ideal candidate is an established banking commercial operator with deep, current executive relationships within top U.S. banks, and fluency in navigating procurement, security, risk, and compliance at a national scale. This role is critical for securing large platform commitments and establishing Monstro as the industry standard. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving expansion, influencing product strategy, and building the foundation for the national accounts organization.

Requirements

  • Senior individual contributor, not a sales manager.
  • Personally carried a number and closed $3M–$5M ACV deals (contributing to $10M+ multi-year platform commitments) into Tier-1 or large regional financial institutions.
  • Demonstrated repeatable sales motion: ability to build pipeline from cold, qualify, advance, and close deals with specifics.
  • Closed deals in accounts with no pre-existing relationship at the start of the cycle.
  • Operator mindset: energized by ambiguity, experience selling at an early-stage or new-category company, willingness to build necessary assets.
  • Financial services depth: working knowledge of bank infrastructure, operational realities, security posture, and regulatory regimes.
  • Experience walking deals through bank procurement, InfoSec, and risk review, with a focus on compressing the process.
  • Executive credibility: ability to engage with C-suite executives (CEOs, Presidents, CIOs, CTOs, Chief Digital Officers, Chief Risk Officers, Heads of Wealth or Trust) at US middle-market and regional financial institutions.
  • Ability to translate technical and regulatory value into commercial outcomes.
  • Technical literacy: comfortable engaging substantively on cloud, data architecture, APIs, AI governance, and security frameworks.
  • Data-driven self-management: ability to run pipeline with clean stages, honest forecasts, weekly inspection, and ruthless prioritization.
  • Comfortable building the playbook, not just executing one.
  • US travel readiness: willing to travel substantially across the US.
  • New York-based with regular travel to major US financial hubs.

Nice To Haves

  • Former bank-side leadership experience, proven ability to originate, negotiate, and close enterprise technology deals from a cold start.

Responsibilities

  • Personally close platform deals, owning a quota and leading the pursuit and close of $10M+ platform commitments with US middle-market and regional financial institutions.
  • Run the full sales cycle: prospecting, pipeline development, discovery, technical evaluation, security and procurement review, commercial negotiation, and close.
  • Maintain a clean and honest forecast, inspecting personal pipeline proactively.
  • Generate qualified pipeline through deliberate outbound efforts, executive briefings, partner channels, events, and targeted content, not solely relying on personal network.
  • Demonstrate the ability to produce pipeline in accounts where no prior relationship exists.
  • Maintain disciplined account plans with named economic buyers, identified internal champions, documented compelling events, and mutual close plans.
  • Translate every deal into reusable assets: ICP and account segmentation, qualification criteria, discovery frameworks, objection libraries, ROI models, security and compliance response templates, and competitive playbooks.
  • Partner with CEO and Product leadership on pricing, packaging, and positioning, bringing the institutional buyer's voice into product development.
  • Help establish the forecasting cadence, pipeline review rhythm, and deal-stage definitions for the strategic organization.
  • Drive expansion inside closed accounts by converting initial deployments into broader adoption across divisions, use cases, and deeper integration.
  • Build the early reference base by creating proof points for future sales.
  • Drive InfoSec, regulatory, legal, and procurement processes in parallel with commercial negotiation, anticipating and clearing gates.
  • Coordinate internally with Legal, Security, and Compliance to clear approvals on first submission.
  • Multi-thread deliberately by building simultaneous relationships across risk, technology, and business-line stakeholders.
  • Represent Monstro externally as a credible voice with strategic buyers through executive briefings, industry forums, and selective public speaking.
  • As revenue and pipeline justify, help recruit additional strategic AEs and supporting roles, initially as a player-coach and potentially evolving into a sales leader.
